CHOC and Energy Upgrade California: Working To Make California a Zero-Carbon State

(Fairfield, CA) - CHOC is pleased to support Energy Upgrade California® , a statewide initiative committed to helping Californians take action to save energy, conserve and preserve natural resources, reduce demand on the energy grid and make informed choices about their energy use at home and at work. CHOC shares Energy Upgrade California's belief in Energy Heroes, both organizations working to help California households lower energy use, shrink carbon footprint and make California a zero-carbon state. Since 2008, CHOC Energy has provided energy efficiency education, weatherization and home assessment services for income qualified renters and homeowners across six northern California counties.Some easy to follow tips for reducing energy use and lowering household energy costs:+ Replace dirty, clogged HVAC filters every one to two months during the summer in order to lower energy use by 5% to 15%.+ Utilize fans and open windows to keep rooms and homes at a comfortable temperature, very effective and energy-saving.+ Flip light switches off when no one is in the room. It's that easy.+ Keep freezers full. An empty freezer uses more energy to stay cold. Pack freezers with more food or take up space with one-gallon containers of water.+ Hang dry laundry and allow the the sun to lighten stains and/or sanitize clothes without any shrinkage.Learn more about CHOC's Energy Savings Assistance Program, qualifications and how to apply here.
